The Wyvern Jubilee Morris dancing team is an all male side based in Yeovil, Somerset, UK.

Pete Part 1 Pete Part 2 The team was formed in 1977 by employees of Westland Helicopters Ltd, for a one-off performance as part of the Queen's silver jubilee celebrations. Initially the team was called Westlands Jubilee Morris. Following the success of this inaugral performance it was decided to keep the team going and, as more people were drafted in from outside the company, the association with Westlands was dropped and the name changed to Wyvern Jubilee. There are two founder members still with the team, Pete Clemo and Chris Toyne (both also still working for Westlands!). Pete is the only one to have continuously danced with the team, Chris having taken a break a couple of years ago.

Wyvern Baldrick
Wyvern Baldrick
The team perform a selection of dances in the Cotswold tradition, mainly from the villages of Adderbury, Bledington, and Headington. Details of these can be found on the DANCES page. The team kit consists of black knee breeches, white socks, black shoes, white shirts, and crossed baldricks in red, white, and blue, with a red central baldrick boss comprising the Wyvern logo, which is the Queen's silver jubilee badge. The whole ensemble is finished off with a rather fetching red waistcoat. These waistcoats were blagged from Safeway when, in a fit of eco-enthusiasm, that company decided that their staff should all wear green instead of red. Sadly Safeway are no longer with us so now, unfortunately, replacements must be paid for when current supplies run out.

May Day dance out
May Day, Ham Hill
Practice sessions are held on Thursday evenings from October to March, at Westfield School, Yeovil. The summer months are spent dancing out at local venues and further afield. Take a look at the PROGRAMME page for details of our current itinerary. New dancers and musicians are always welcome. No previous experience is required, but an outgoing personality is an advantage, along with a good sense of humour.

For further information about joining or booking the team contact the bagman (secretary) via the CONTACTS page.
